Herbert's Dream

Welcome to Lakes Alive...

2012 already! Plans for the finale of the Lakes Alive programme (in its current guise!) are going exceedingly well and we can't wait to announce what we're bringing to Cumbria this summer. It will be spectacular, adventurous, playful, intimate, beautiful, humourous, delectable - we could go on! We'll be making more announcements all in good time but for now here are a few juicy morsels to keep your mouth watering:

On Friday 2 March there will be a magical, memorable Mintfeast, hosted by Cumbria's very own Tim Farron MP. This is a fundraising event to fill part of the funding hole left by the demise of the North West Development Agency. The students of Lakes Hospitality School will provide a magnificent banquet, which will sparkle with Mintfest magic, and we will auction off some very desirable donations. For more information follow the Mintfeast link above.

On Thursday 21 June,  Les Commandos Percu (France) will perform the world premiere of On the Night Shift as part of, and one of four official opening events, of the London 2012 Festival. The show is commissioned by Lakes Alive, London 2012 Festival, We Play Expo and the Lake District National Park and will be created by English and French artists between January and June.

This year's Mintfest dates are 31 August - 2 September, when a kaleidoscope of performers from across the globe will once again descend on Kendal for an exhilarating weekend of performance of all kinds. We've got much in store for you - but we're keeping it up our sleeves for the time being!

If you'd like to get news of our full season as it's announced please click on the box on the top right of the page to be added to our free email list.

If you'd like to attend an event and have any access requirements, or need any further information, please let us know and we will do our very best to advise you, or to help make your visit as easy and enjoyable as possible. We can provide any of our published information in large print plain text on request, however in order to use our resources most prudently, we create these documents only on request so there may sometimes be a short delay. Please contact jan 'at' kendalartsinternational.com to make a request.
